Maniacs for the end of hunger
Sometimes ending hunger looks like this.
A couple of years ago I was at an epicentre in Uganda with some wonderful women. Back in Australia we were on the final countdown for raising money by the end of the year. I had promised to do this dance when we crossed the $4M mark – and that happened in Africa.
Rather than focus on how embarrassing it would be, I chose to step into the spirit of it, truly practising the saying ‘dance like no one is watching!’
We worked for days on the moves, pulling up Jennifer Beals on Youtube and learning the routine. I am complete rubbish of course – but look at that panache! That style! I gave it a red hot go!
The song amped into a big dance with women, kids and me from the epicentre joining in.
It was such a happy day, and it is definitely one way the end of hunger will look – people dancing and having fun. What a celebration that will be!
Interestingly though – I think the way TO that result is THROUGH increasing our joy, participation and happiness along the way. When we are tuning into joy and the human spirit, our endeavours are more magnetic and successful.
Inquiry of the week: I’m going to find a chance Every. Single. Day. to dance! Even if its just me. I’m going to focus on having fun and love WIN.
